My number won't let me log back in to my Whatsapp?

I haven't used Whatsapp in about a year or year and a half, now I cannot log back in and the app says the problem is with the number? I need to recover important links and messages from there. I live abroad, and haven't texted or called with said number in that time either, because I've used my other number (from the country I live in)

Does your phone show coverage indicators? Can you make & receive calls? Are you on PAYG or pay-monthly? If you're on PAYG, when did you last incur any chargeable usage?

I suspect you're on PAYG and your SIM has been hibernated due to non-usage over a 6month period. If so, you have a further 3months to contact EE CS and request reactivation, before your line is permanently disconnected and your number lost.

Well, I didn't have a payment plan, but I did use the whatsapp account last year and it still worked (about a year ago...) I don't remember ever actually calling anyone with the number, or texting. I did have some issues with it when I bought the number and I didn't find any solutions for it. But the whatsapp account did work (and telegram) when I set them up for the first time in 2022 August. I don't need the number necessarily, just the messages and links from my whatsapp account, which i cannot log in... last time the whatsapp worked was september last year.

Hi @AMYMCGREGOR98,

If your account hasn't been used for chargeable service in over 273 days, it will have been closed and the number recycled.

Thank you! I have asked a friend to forward me stuff that she had sent to my old number on Whatsapp to my main one. So I have gotten some of the media back, fortunately, I know I can't get my number back. I just hope Whatsapp will be able to let me have all the files (i have contacted them about this already:) )
