Hi, Mum's in hospital so is now using her EE PAYG brickphone which was only for emergencies before. It's PAYG and checking the balance before and after a call of known length, by texting BALANCE to 150, shows it's paying £1/minute. I've found https://ee.co.uk/help/terms-and-conditions/price-plans/mobile/pay-as-you-go-price-plans which confuses me but suggests PAYG can be as low as 40p/minute, reading the March 2023 prices.

How do I know which of those many dated price guides applies to Mum's PAYG?

How can I move Mum from her old PAYG tariff to the modern one? I want to stay PAYG, not go monthly, because she will leave hospital in time. And it's a brickphone so there is no 'EE app' option.

Thanks.

Welcome to the community.

Was the call to a UK mobile or landline? What was the length of the call and how much were you charged?

Hi @Christopher_G, The balance was £44.25. After calls to a UK mobile it was £28.25 which is £16 less. The first two calls were unanswered and no message was left. Say a minute each. Then a call of 13m24s, say fourteen minutes. Sixteen minutes in total. My brother did think in advance it was £1/minute which matches the drop in balance and the minutes used.

Hi @Christopher_G, Mum dialled 074... which is just another mobile in the family with an ordinary Lebara monthly SIM. Others ring it without incurring unusual high fees so I don't think it's the number she was phoning.

OK, thanks @dr-kildare

I've had a look through the different price guides, the current and older ones, to see if I can find any that match the charges and can't. I recommend calling 150 from the phone to speak with our pay as you go team so that they can check the SIM and plan history.

If you manage to resolve this, please come back and let us know.
