Hi Guys, new to forum, currently with asda who have hiked their prices up, I just want a payg sim where I top up as and when necessary, last topped up £20 October 2020 so not a big user, I will be asking for my pac in the next few days, once my balance is below 10p, how do I ensure I still have the same payg option I have now and and don't end up paying a regular monthly amount, ie £10, all help and advice appreciated

All EE PAYG SIMs come primed with a recurring Pack of allowances ready to bought out of your PAYG credit as soon as it is sufficient.

Text STOP PACK to 150 before you 1st top-up & you can use the SIM for calls & texts but not data as normal PAYG at standard per-unit rates paid for out of your standing PAYG credit balance.

To save the SIM going into hibernation due to lack of use, just remember within every 179 days (~ 6 months) to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from any Pack or Add-on you might have.

Thank you Ray, as always a walking encyclopedia, a fountain of information. Just so I am clear to allow me to understand further, let me ask again with a few examples.

I have an existing SIM, no credit, sort of gave up on EE becos there is no chat support for EE PAYG customers - I always had to call in - and the queue is soooooooooooooooo long. Anyway .......

Currently, I have no credit and not subscribe to a monthly pack. So what you are saying is .....

1. I buy a £5 monthly pack

2. Upon pack being activated, I then ... Text STOP PACK to 150 ... so that I dont auto purchase another £5 pack after 30 days.

3. My £5 pack will not expire

4. I can continue to text and make calls until my text allowance and phone call allowance are depleted.

5. I then proceed to buy another £5 pack.... and note (2) above applies again.

Yes, I will take note to make chargeable text and calls to prevent my SIM from going into hibernation.

Hi @foocindy1,

Pay as you go packs expire after 30 days.

To continue to use your phone for calls and texts, you'd need to purchase another pack or pay per minute/per text from your account credit.

If you renew your pack, any leftover data will rollover.

That text command is to stop automatic renewal of a pack when it expires.

@foocindy1 : It's purpose, as the OP requested, is not to use packs at all & thus avoid having to pay a regular monthly amount but instead to top up as and when necessary to make calls & texts at standard rates. In other words conventional/traditional PAYG.
