how often to use payg sim

I have a PAYG sim which was bought from eBay -this is for emergency use only, however, I know that it has to be used on occasions to keep the number active. I was under the impression, when the purchase was made, that it had to be used every 30 days but I have now seen others selling where they state usage every 90 days. Can anyone tell me which is correct? I see no point in using it if not necessary.

Thanks for the speedy reply. So it looks as if it has to be used every 60 days rather than the 30 days I thought.

@daffydog : In fact it could be much more than 60 days.

Within every 179 days you need to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack.
