Top up barely used mobile

Hi,

I topped up my mother's PAYG phone yesterday and got confirmation it was successful. I tried to call her today and got a 'this number isn't able to connect calls at present" message. I can't call 150 or any numbers from her phone either. Is this because it hasn't been used for so long? Maybe a year? Thanks

Sounds like her PAYG SIM has gone into hibernation.

When did she last use it for a chargeable action? EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-chargeable use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.

She needed to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack.

Thanks this sounds like it has been deactivated then. Frustratingly it allowed me to top it up! If I pass an EE store I may ask as the queue on hold is always so long.
