That’s what I was told. But I received a text telling me that I had to send a chargeable text from my EE phone so I wouldn’t lose my phone number. So as we are planning on leaving for the UK next Monday I needed to had minutes, data and text to the phone.

That's right to activate a pay as you go SIM you must make a chargeable text or call.

Are you aware if your account already has credit from when you purchased the SIM?

@ecturner : Buy a pack of mins, text & data. Text ALL PACKS to 150 on arrival in UK & choose.

How long you've had this PAYG SIM? They go into hibernation after 6 months of non-use.

Sounds like your PAYG SIM has gone into hibernation.

When did you last use it for a chargeable action? EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.

You needed to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack.
