Roaming charges

I was surprised to hear that EE started charging for roaming.

I am so confused and I wonder why EE puts charges whilst other providers do not.

As I am working for long periods abroad this is the last thinf I want to hear. On a call with EE last wekk, I was told that this is happening due to inflation. As a result of those charges, it triples my expenses-I cant see this matching the inflation rising to be honset and I find it disappointing.Still I got some questions here...

So, does this mean that once inflation lowers again, that roaming charges will go away?

Hasn't inflation hit the other providers equally?

Why isnt EE setting up a plan for working people that have to travel abroad and stay for a while?

Are you with us on pay as you go? If so please see our Pay as you go roaming (ee.co.uk) booklet for full details and advise on using the phone abroad.

We don't offer a plan for staying abroad for a long period, as all our plans require a stable link to the UK.

Vote with your feet. There are many providers that offer "included" roaming depending on your requirements.

1pmobile offer inclusive roaming in Europe, and reasonably priced roaming in several other countries. Three PAYG only, not postpaid, offer free roaming in Europe and several other countries including USA and more. An interesting one is Talkhome Mobile who offer inclusive roaming in Europe and very cheap roming in lots of other countries. Vodafone have some interesting inclusive tariffs too. There are some Vodafone travel tariffs available at esim.net

When I click on that booklet link, I get a "404 Not Found" error. Can you please fix the link as I need to know how the new regime works prior to its introduction tomorrow.

yes I am on PAYG and I work overseas for periods. I clicked on the link but there is no information as the page does not work.

Given the fact that it is the 6th of June, I am left without knowing what to do and whetehr I should be changing provider or not.

I cannot see what my charges will be like either.

Any help from EE, would be appreciated...never mind inflation rates!

All information regarding the recent changes to roaming charges for pay as you go customers can be found HERE.

If you have an active subscription pack, we will send you a welcome text when you arrive to your destination asking if you would like to opt in to either weekly or daily charges to roam like your home.

I'll definitely look into those providers as well as Asda mobile, which seems promising after cursory investigation.
