PAYG pack changes

Hello there,

Recently I noticed the PAYG packs got some substantial data bumps, which is great. But it quite go me suspicious when it states the speed will be capped at 25 Mbps. On the website it says this is applying to anyone getting a new PAYG SIM card from now on, which makes sense. So I have some questions on my mind about all these changes.

Will my current pack suffer anything if I leave it as it is and keep on topping it up as usual?

Would my data speed be capped at 25 Mbps if I switch to any of the new pack available at the moment?

If you stay on your current pack there won't be any changes to you.

Moving to a new pack may enforce the cap depending on which pack you chose.

@Jon_K : You sure the cap might be applied when you move to a new pack on an existing SIM.? I would have thought it would only be when you move to a new SIM as on sale now.

What states this? Somewhere to do with your existing SIM/plan or just in the EE Shop with the new PAYG SIMs on sale?

It says on the EE shop only, it doesn't say anything on my side, not even on myEE.

As I thought, @Profile closed . Can you confirm on your existing SIM, not just on the EE Shop, that you are now being offered the new enhanced data packs when you go to buy a new 1?

Oh. I mean, it does give me the new packs on myEE, but on 150 ALL PACKS list there's still the old ones. Maybe they forgot to update them yet.

You're right! MyEE gives me new enhanced data packs while ALL PACKS is still out-of-date.

This is the list of packs currently shown on https://shop.ee.co.uk/sim-only/pay-as-you-go-phones at the time of posting

I also note in "The Legal Bit" Customers joining EE on a Pay As You Go Plan from 10 March 2023 will have their speed capped at 25 Mbps.

I also still presume our speed wont get capped as i was with EE PAYG well before the 10th?

Hi @foxtrotmike

Customers joining the network before 1st March 2023 will not be subject to the 25Mbps speed cap, even if you change to one of the new packs.

Hi, I've been suddenly moved into the need speedcapped packages despite having been with this SIM for a year.

Customer services is telling me to go away despite this being their doing (have a data fault and was trying to get it resolved when an agent refreshed my entire SIM like I'm a new customer or something).

What do I do?
