Best smartphone for elderly pay as you go

I have had a cheap pay as you go mobile for years, only used in car for emergencies. I receive very few telephone calls.

I am about to purchase my first electric car which will benefit from smartphone usage.

What is the best cheap combination for my limited use?

I am on BT broadband.

@jenoseel That depends on what you want to pay. The more you pay it tends to be a better device. Have a look at THIS

You’ll probably want a PACK that lasts 30 days this will give you a data allowance you’ll need that so you can if required find a charging point for your car if your out and about away from your home.
