PAYG sim in Spain - calls and texts are blocked?

Hi - I am in Madrid, Spain and I a have a PAYG sim. Roaming is on I and automatic network selection is chosen, yet I can noy make a call or send a text. Any advise please?

Did you use that PAYG SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad? EE PAYG SIMs need 1st activating on EE's home UK network before they can be used abroad. If it wasn't you can't now use it until you return to UK.

Hi - Thanks for your reply. I did not use it in the UK. I bought it just before going to the airport. I wont be back in the UK until April and need to use it before then. Is there really no solution?
