Hello, I have been living abroad since September last year. Before moving I cancelled my monthly contract and moved to pay as you go as I didn't want to keep paying for a service that I no longer needed but wanted to keep my number. I was told by the EE staff on the phone that this would be fine but I would need to send a text or something every 6 months to keep the sim active. Until recently I have just been using another sim in the country were im living, and only just found out that my account seems to have been closed completely. Now I have no idea how I can add credit etc. As I seem to be unable to do this through my EE. Weirdly, I am still able to receive texts on the old sim, but cannot send them. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? As I am living abroad I don't know what ny options are for contacting EE directly. Would appreciate any help

@Taichung111 : It takes 30 days to cancel a contract & before it is moved to PAYG. Bearing that in mind, did you use that PAYG SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad? EE PAYG SIMs need 1st activating on EE's home UK network before they can be used abroad. If it wasn't you can't now use it until you return to UK.

Oh, the staff didn't mention that. She mentioned that it would take a month to move to pay as you go, but by that time I had already moved. Thanks for your help. Do you have any idea what happens now? Will the sim just get cancelled 6 months into switching to pay as you go?

You'll have a total of nearly 9 months to stop completely losing it if you can get back to UK in that time.

By my reckoning that means I have until this June, and I won't be returning to the UK until maybe July at the earliest. Oh well, at least I know what I'm dealing with. Thanks for your help.
