Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Yes, you'll need to add credit to your account to purchase a pack.

Please see How to top-up a pay as you go phone and How do I set up card payments for pay as you go? for more details.

I am a new payg customer - do I have to top up with £10 and then choose a pack? On my account it says about the £10 pack, and my balance is 0. When I submitted my card info to ensure I can get discounts each month when I pay by card it hasn't updated anything. So wondered do I have to also add £10 onto the account.. how does it all work.

Same here. Got mine from argos. No clue from argos or ee how it works other than just keep topping up £10 and hope the offer works!?

Also note that the My EE app and the online version of it are not reporting balance and allowance correctly at the moment. To get this information in a much more reliable manner, text "AL" (without the quotes) to 150 and you should get a text back with the info in it.
