Using a £10 sim e-voucher

I have an old iphone 6 I wanted to keep in the car for emergencies. I bought a sim at my local shop along with an e-voucher, Try as I might I cannot get the evoucher to work. Does the e-vocuher have to connect to an EE phone because if so I am stuck. The phone I am trying to put the credit on does not have a number.

@Haycorns : An EE eVoucher is meant to be used with an EE PAYG SIM. Did you buy an EE SIM?

1st put the SIM in your phone & then text VO followed by a space followed by the 16-digit voucher no. to 150, e.g VO 1234567891234567.
