Can I text or call to UK from North America using my PAYG pack sim

I will be travelling to North America with my PAYG pack sim. I want to be able to send text message or make call back to UK when necessary. Do I just top up my account with some money (credit) to allow for international (non-EU) roaming? Do I have to text EE or make any setting to give instruction to apply the credit in my account for international roaming prior to my travel? When I return to UK will I be able to continue to purchase/recur pack credit to my PAYG pack account?

You need to top-up some credit & use it there to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs/countries/usa > PAYG.

PAYG is auto enabled for roaming as long as you've used it in the UK previously. You don't need to change or do anything special.

When you return to UK you just carry on as normal.
