Quite often when I am on the phone, I lose the signal halfway through the conversation. There seem to be certain lines that always go bad, such as customer call centres based on the other side of the world.

The call usually starts off fine. Then, after a few minutes, the person on the other end can no longer hear me. It is incredibly annoying and stressful because it happens so frequently.

What makes it worse is having to redial and go through the rigmarole of menu options, waiting times, and security verifications just to speak to someone all over again only for the same thing to happen again.

I have the same problem with the bad signal. Although my wifi is on I am not sure if I am calling through it or not. It seems there are certain lines that always go bad, like customer call centres that are based on the other side of the world. It's really frustrating and annoying when they cannot hear what you are saying. Whats worse if you have to re dial and go through the rigma of the menu options, waiting time, verification and id check to speak to someone all over again and again...

Its indoors and roughly the same location. It also happens when I call local numbers and contacts as well. I checked ofcom and it seems the EE signal is not great where I am.

This happens to me too. Usually when I’m on call to my mum. My reception (and G) goes to nothing then takes a few seconds to come back meaning I have to restart the call. Very annoying

Hi @BFK85

Welcome to the community.

The first couple of places to check are:

Our coverage checker - it'll let you know the estimated coverage for your area

Our network status checker - that will let you know if we're aware of any maintenance works in your area.

If you're still having problems, WiFi calling may be a benefit to you. It'll keep you connected through WiFi, rather than the mobile network.

Let us know how you're getting on.

Chris

Thank you I will try wifi calling and see if that helps. I also appreciate what you said about buildings blocking the signal though I often stand next to a open window and it still happens. However I have noticed it doesn't happen with all calls, the other day I called my bank and was sat down in the middle of my flat and it was fine.

There's a few bits in here.

The destination of a call won't impact drops - if radio coverage is causing an issue, then only radio issues will affect it. Onwards call routing to other operators is handled by the core/central network.

The only possible exception would be if the issue is the handover between VoWiFi & VoLTE/VoNR - in other words, mobile to/from WiFi.

Android phones often have the option of toggling mobile-preferred or WiFi preferred which can sometimes assist in fringe cases, where the network default of mobile preferred isn't ideal. Apple, as far as I know, doesn't give this option.
