Lardenr’s quite right though. This isn’t a good solution. If you have to disable 2FA then you’re making your account vulnerable.

I can’t agree with Northerner either. This isn’t an uncommon problem. I have unlimited data on my EE sim so would only really use WIFI if the mobile signal was low or nonexistent. That happens inside buildings, particularly big metal shed type buildings.

Today I wanted to access the EE WiFi hotspot inside a cafe because the already weak signal had completely disappeared inside. I couldn’t connect because there was no mobile signal so I couldn’t receive the SMS code. Catch 22.

EE need to come up with a better solution. 2FA shouldn’t be necessary to connect to a hotspot. It never was on the old BT app.

Hi, I have an issue when connecting to an ee wifi hotspot. So when I’m out, in a bad dead zone and I see ee wifi. I connect to this, state that I’m a BT broadband customer , put in my password but then it wants to send me a code either via text or email. My issue is this, why I’m trying to connect through the hotspot, is because I have no signal, so how can I receive a text/email. Can I turn this function off? The BT wifi app didn’t have this issue. Thanks

Hi, thanks for the reply, yes it’s a genuine site, when I connect to the hotspot this is the site it comes up with. Used it before, and it fine as long as you have a signal to receive the text with. But recently been on a holiday where the signal is very bad we are on 02 at the moment with our mobile provider, but will move to EE for that next year.

Have a solution now, not ideal , basically had to login to my BT account, and disable the 2fa, so I don’t get a text/email through , so I can go straight on the wifi
