No matter either way) offer their own proposition different from a network operator, and it's generally focused on the value end of the market. Individual users need to make their own purchasing decisions as to whether a value option is suitable for them, and choose accordingly.

In this scenario, it's not a limitation imposed by EE or the technology - your husband's budget provider is choosing not to support it.

Your point about older phones is fair, however 4G-calling & WiFi-calling has been standard on smartphones for several years now - given that EE's 4G coverage has exceeded that of 2G for many years also, this should also be considered in purchasing decisions.

Today marks the 6th day without mobile coverage or data. The mast needs a part and it’s going to be another 10 days. I don’t feel EE are making this much of a priority, but my area is a bit remote, we have elderly and sick people needing contact. I have switched a few onto wifi call but it’s not always compatible with others. We also have electricity blackouts, the one on Thursday lasted 5 hours, so no wifi, no mobile, no way of contacting anyone or finding out. It’s like the dark ages. How can we get this prioritised?

WiFi-calling simply replaces your mobile network connection with your broadband router, but otherwise you connect to EE's core network in the same way.

That provides you with the ability to make & receive calls to or from any phone in the world, landline or mobile. I suspect you may be confusing WiFi-calling with calling apps, which do indeed only allow connectivity between users of the same app. The two are not the same.

Unsure who's told you some of the specifics about your local site outage, but all losses of service are priority faults. Out of curiosity, where are you in the country?

Not all phones and networks support wifi calling, my husbands phone is an iphone 8 on SPATSU (which runs on EE) & doesn’t support wifi, and he is not alone in this, some of the older people also have very basic phones that don’t support wifi calling. We’re in Cornwall, all our services are hit & miss but lack of connectivity is crucial, we tried to get a doctors appointment for someone yesterday, you have to book online & wait for a call, their phone doesn’t support wifi calling so we were driving up the road several times to deal with the doctors surgery

Hi @kaleli

If you have a blackout the mobile network will likely be impacted as well.

If a specific network part will need to be ordered from the manufacturer which can take time. Sadly there is nothing can be done and from your post you still have some ability to stay in communication.

Keep an eye on EE network status checker: https://ee.co.uk/help/service-status

Thanks
