topic Network signal issue in Mobile Network discussions

EE have recently been carrying out 5G upgrades in my local town. 5G SA/Standalone is being deployed which is great.....but unfortunately for me, it appears there is a fault with a newly upgraded site.

I have raised a network fault with EE via the checker to report incredibly poor data throughput when at work. EE responded saying no fault found.

With the aid of CellMapper and field test mode on my iPhone, it appears my phone, when at work, in a certain part of the building (front by the window) or outside, at the front of the building, my phone connects to a site 3 miles away which broadcasts 5G standalone, not the local site.

A particular cell (I have the cell ID) on the distant site appears to have a data throughput issue. The data is incredibly slow, sometimes does not work at all and I frequently drop calls. If I turn 5G SA off on my iPhone, everything bursts back into life.

Can you escalate this to the network team for them to take a look? Ideally I want to keep 5G SA on and enjoy the benefits of that.

Good afternoon @HighLatency.

If your phone is currently set to prioritise 5G SA, it may be a case of your nearest site not supporting this, and it trying to latch on to the site further away.

If this isn't your natural serving site, then it may not specifically be picked up when reporting an issue.

I would recommend giving our technical team a call, and highlighting these issues with them directly.

They'll be able to look into the status of the sites in your area, along with how you're connecting, and if needs be investigate further from there.
