Similar to other recent posts, there’s a loss of 5G coverage in NE4 9** . 5G had been fine since it launched here but it disappeared about a week ago (4G only now on both EE phones in the house).

Looking now, your coverage checker says 5g isn’t available in my postcode yet ( it was) but after two reports on the service checker I’m told there is no problem.

I would call but don’t have the time to wait on hold in the evenings and can’t use my phone for calls when I’m at work during the day. The lack of detailed information is a little frustrating (e.g. is it a permanent change in coverage or something that can be fixed).

Both 4G & 5G services are delivered across combinations of multiple frequency bands, it's not unusual for there to be local amendments to the specific config. This can sometimes cause variations to the perceived coverage.

If the coverage checker has been amended, and now shows 4G rather than 5G coverage in your location, I would suspect this is now the service you should expect - at least until further rollout happens locally.

Having a pre & post analysis of the various carriers in use would be the only way to further advise.

Similar has happened in KT15 2. Perfect 5G until a few weeks ago and now only 4G. The coverage checker shows 5G coverage and lists no current fault but 5G has definitely disappeared. Surrounding towns still have 5G so it's not a phone problem.

similar to MK40 and MK41 postcodes. all of Bedford does not have 5G unless you are at the mast locations themsleves. I really do not know whats going on. Spoken to EE and online pnety of times and they do not have a clue and cant see any remedial work going on for this, However contractdictry to this spoke to someone in the EE shop and they said they are working on it . Its quite honestly a joke

It's not just one mast but the whole area has gone from NR-NSA override to 4G-CA. There are two classes of 5G on EE - if you have a Samsung phone, one has a solid 5G indicator and one where it's outlined. I wondering if they are upgrading the network in the area? But it would be nice if they knew what they were doing.

The outlined indicator on a Samsung indicates that 5G-NSA is Available/present on neighbouring cells but you are not connected to it at that time, only 4G LTE.

When it is filled in, this indicates you are connected to a 5G NSA frequency band in addition to 4G LTE, or 5G SA where this is present.

Apps such as NetMonster report this outlined indicator as 5G NSA Disconnected.

An interesting point - both EE's legals & the radio design, is for different "G" to exist alongside each other.

The logical flip-side of your argument is also for prices to increase as newer technologies & wider coverage, rolls out. That would never be popular!

Have you got 5G back yet? No movement here over 6 weeks in. Starting to think they’ve changed the mast alignment. Really need EE to update the local mast (not even 100m away) into a 5G mast.

No, still just 4G-CA. The 5G used to be a decently strong signal, now it's gone completely. It still shows as available indoors on the coverage map, a blatant lie.
