This will be down to the Home > Preferred > Available order of network priorities.

Your phone will search for networks in each category, in that order. It sounds like in your case, "home" is unavailable" but preferred/available are. This is compounded by - I suspect - there being a local network fault on your serving site(s) causing a loss of local coverage.

Check for the latter by using "check status" on https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile-coverage-checker

Verify this theory by performing a manual network search when your phone is camped on a roaming network. EE shouldn't be evident - and if it is, automatic reselection should follow.

Hi,

I am having issues with reconnecting to the EE network when returning home from work.I

I live in Northern Ireland and while my work place is still in NI I can only receive the Irish Eir signal whilst on roaming. Usually when I get home I automatically go back to EE but since last Thursday I am unable to get any service for hours. It usually returns during the night. At the weekend I had normal service but today after being on the Irish signal again at work EE service has been lost.

Would this be an issue with my phone and not the network. I've tried restarting the phone but not helping.

Thank you.
