5G is a radio access technology, WiFi is a connection between a mobile device and broadband router.

VoLTE is the indicator for "Voice over LTE" which means "Voice over 4G". Either your phone is using 4G, or is connected to 5G in NSA mode, where 4G remains the anchor layer.

Are you having any service problems using your phone, or is this just a general enquiry? Just curious.

Hi My A55 is not showing The 5G logo on the WiFi strength symbol at the top of my screen. I do have access to it through my service provider & my phone is 5G. It does show VoLTE. So does this mean I'm not connected to 5G. Many thanks Peetee.

Thank you so much for replying. I just thought with it being a 5G phone that it should automatically show the 5G logo next to the WI FI strength indicator at the top of the phone.Without seeing the 5G logo how do I know if I’m using it?Also I have an iPad 12 months old that is pretty slow & can’t find a way to see if it’s running 5G.
Kind regards Peetee

Hi @Reteprolyat

It would only show the 4G/5G signal status when you're not connected to WiFi. It should still show signal strength (bars) though. Could you turn off the WiFi, just to test it please?

Make sure you turn it back on after the test though.
