Poor Quality Audio Calling Over WiFi

We have a problem calling over wifi; we can hear the other caller clearly but they can't hear us well, saying we're breaking up. This is very frustrating as we use our mobiles for work and have no 4G or 5G coverage where we are.

EE say on their site that this could be down to lack of bandwidth, but we have 150 mbps download and 12 mbps upload. We also have no problems making calls using WhatsApp. Does anyone know a resolution?

The bandwidth explanation would be a good reason why WiFi-calling doesn't initiate in the first place, not a reason for poor in-call audio.

Does the poor audio come & go during a call, or - once poor - does it remain so for as long as a call remains active?

If you had marginal coverage, I could understand this potentially being caused by in-call handovers between VoLTE & VoWiFi - I'm not surprised it fluctuates.

Trying a speed test when audio breaks up would be a good way to debunk any suggestion of bandwidth being a problem, although a poor wireless connection to your router is a potential culprit.

https://business.ee.co.uk/help/network-and-coverage/wifi-calling/ confirms a 1Mb/s connection should suffice, I've used it without issue on connections around 2-3Mb/s.
