Weak signal and drop outs.

Hi, we own a static caravan in North Wales and our phone signal is weak (1 bar) and we frequently get missed calls or drop outs during a call. We also use a TP-Link MR400 sim card router for our TV subscription channels; this also suffers from buffering. I am hoping that someone can advise us as to what we can do to improve our signals. We are retired so not too expensive please 🙂

Has the signal always been the same at the caravan?

Could you pop the postcode into our coverage checker and hit 'check status' please? It will let you know if we're aware of any problems in the area.

You can check the signal checker as @Leanne_T mentions but if you are in a poor signal area there is not much you can do.

Hi, Leanne. The postcode here is LL15 2AN and I have checked that there are no issues. The caravan park has lots of trees and the caravans are on different levels due to the landscape. We have been here over 18 months and our signal has never been much better than 1 bar on our Samsung A21s phones. Our TP-Link router shows 2 bars but we still get lots of buffering when using BBC Iplayer and Disney +.

Many of the caravans here have external amplifiers but we are pensioners so looking for the most cost effective method of boosting the signal.

The mobile coverage in any particular location is what it is. If there was a magic wand to cheaply improving the service everywhere, you'd have 100% national coverage!

The fact your phone also has similar service suggests you are just in a weak coverage area.

Yes, I understand that, my question really was whether the signal would be improved enough by adding an external directional aerial amplifier or whether this would be waste of money. I was hoping someone had experienced this and had a solution.
