That would be a pity indeed, but I have ruled out plenty of factors, i.e. tried two 5g and one 4g phone, tested against 3 and smarty and walked around the town, which looks proper yellow on the coverage map, meaning 5g inside and outside.

Worst of it all, 5g aside, also 4g is pathetic. I used 25mbps for one month on a daily basis 1+ year ago and it was perfectly reliable. Now, it bursts occasionally to 15, even 20, but where it s***s the worst is periods of zero speed.

I don't know what is happening. Could it be that the network throughput is still inadequate for hyperspeeds of 5g?

I will soon have a chance to check unlimited 5g and put commonsense to test.

Hi

I have some questions about how data speeds are capped in practice, comparing 25Mbps vs 100 vs "Our best speeds, no max. Mbps".

If at present, using No frills plan, with a 25 Mbps cap the averages I am getting are DL 2Mbps UL 1Mbps even as 5g with all bars in connection quality, would switching to 100Mbps or higher be likely to be better at all for that area that flat?

In other words are those caps to be taken literally, in which case the answer would be a "No difference to be expected" or otherwise.

By the way, the area coverage checker shows 5g both in and outdoors.

Thanks

Hi there @ASDKJFLS

Thanks for coming here.

Our No Frills Plans give you access to speeds of up to 25Mbps in the UK. Essentials Plans give you access to
speeds of up to 100Mbps in the UK. Essentials Unlimited Max, All Rounder and Full Works speeds give you uncapped speeds in the UK.

The speeds you achieve will also depend on a number of factors including: your location, the device you are using and geographic factors such as tree coverage and population density. If you are using your device indoors, the materials of the building you’re in may also affect mobile internet speeds.

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to write.

To clarify, I am aware of all the above and am checking if all other factors being equal, switching from cap 25 to cap 100 mbps has any chance to deliver any apparent improvement in a flat where nofrills delivers, on average, in the ballpark of 2mbps and 1 mbps.

Commonsense offers no hope for improvement but perhaps someone has proven it to be otherwise.

Got an update.

Been in contact with tech team, reported issues in the area, had cap raised to 100 but connectivity remains very poor: patchy and insufficient for a simple msteams chat with video.

WTH? Talking of both indoors and outdoors in the area appearing to be covered for 5g both in and out.

At some point, they claimed the mast was being repaired, however, it was not reflected in the online issues map. When I let a technician know, he was dismissive and refused to raise this reporting inaccuracy as an issue.

Also, coverage issues cases are being pushed towards closing, so it appears ee are fudging up the as-is.

Anyone know of ee phones which are most suited for ee these days?
