My phone is an iPhone XR and I also have a Samsung work phone both experience the same issue at home and in the local area even though we’re within 1/4 mile of a big mobile mast. The phone signal very gets above 2 bars and when I call or am called it sounds like I’m in a washing machine apparently lol

App says I should have a great 5 bar signal. Without my Wi-Fi the phone is useless poor signal and no mobile data. That’s the local area as well. We are not that far from an ee mast but it’s probably for 5g users. Since 5g has been available my signal strength has reduced.

Its a popular misconception in some sections of the press, but there's no such thing as a "5G mast" - all EE's network sites carry multiple technologies, and the NSA nature of 5G means that any site carrying 5G also carries 2G/4G.

Alterations in perceived coverage levels shouldn't cause any concern of themselves, unless you are having problems using mobile services as a result - be it problems with voice calls or using mobile data. If you choose the "check status" option on the webtool, is anything reported?

Thanks for the clarification on the mast.
Indoors and outdoors locally the signal strength is poor. Unless I’m on Wi-Fi I cannot call out or receive calls. Their is apparently is no service issue. But this applies to my android work phone as well as iPhone.

My coverage should be excellent indoors and out but without Wi-Fi on I barely get any signal. Mobile data doesn’t connect to anything. This also applies to my work phone on business EE which is shocking ( but I don’t pay for that) as coverage is poor for that as well over most areas. My wife is on Vodafone and has no trouble I might have to switch.

To be honest I think EE coverage is poor in the Midlands in general. Your more likely to get hotspots of good coverage rather than small areas of poor coverage.

You need to raise it has a complaint , if it is your home address then EE should be releasing you from your contract,

EE will ask you to do speed test do them , submit them and see what they come back with and if they say everything is fine, also uses the ofcom signal checker,.but do not let them close the complaint , the ombudsman take a dim view of misrepresentation on a signal map and remember to stand your ground and if goes to the ombudsman then it cost EE a fortune so it's in its best interest to sort it, please don't be fobbed off

In legal terms, this advice is incorrect. No mobile operator will guarantee coverage in any specific location or a fault-free 24/7 service - T&Cs do allow for this.

EE offer WiFi-calling as an excellent mitigation for indoor coverage issues. Any derogation from this theory will be on an individual case-by-case basis.

The complaints process is available to use for anyone, but the coverage maps are not a guarantee of service either.
