Turn off 5G. No seriously unless you're in an excellent reception area then 5G is useless (sorry EE). I periodically turn it back on to see if there is any improvement but to-date not much. I have an S23 Ultra.

Apparently good coverage in my area but ever since I've been on ee phone keeps dropping calls in my own home and my workplace in liecester getting texts saying missed call but phone never rings 4g unbelievably slow 5g none existent
Changed sim no change
Got till September on contract and I'm leaving most expensive supplier worse reception if I could afford to buy contract out I would

Many variables here - are you reporting a recent degradation in coverage? Or worse coverage since a recent change of phone? More info would be useful, to properly advise.

Does your phone show VoLTE when calls drop? Have you reported these dropped calls?

5G phones will always prefer a perceivably weaker 5G layer over a "stronger" 4G one.

Had this phone 2 years in September been back to ee shop with it they checked it over and gave it a new sim works fine next to a mast but not anywhere else phones not been very good from new
