Is mobile data enabled on your phone? What happens when you try using it?

2G data will be extremely slow and only usable for the most basic of emails.

This sounds like perfectly normal behaviour when trying to load anything but the most basic text-only webpage over 2G.

With 3G being switched off, this will increasingly be usual service unless you have a 4G phone
