Is this a location where there is normally EE service?

You can check for temporary local outages using the "check status" option on https://coverage.ee.co.uk/network/ee

There has been excellent signal in the Coniston area until early yesterday (6 Apr). I am aware of users of EE, Vodafone and Three are all experiencing this outage. I am making this reply using my husband's Tesco Mobile with FULL signal. So EE, instead of avoiding the please provide information on when I will be able to use my phone again.

This is primarily a peer-peer user community forum, but the link posted above is to the service status checker - EE's website source of local coverage information

You should be able to use "check status", and then "get updates" if there is a known issue. "Report a problem" if there's not.
