Interesting- it would seem that does resolve it.

Is there a fix to this though? Not really practical to do this every time I come leave/ come back home (plus would this mode mean I don’t get text messages?).

hi I’m having really bad issues making calls when at home.
(Apple 13. EE 5G contract. Based in Bristol). Problem occurs at home when connected to wi Fi. On a call I can hear them but they can’t hear me. Have tried switching off wi Fi calling but makes no difference. If I switch off wi Fi altogether the mobile signal (2 bar 4G) is too weak for them to hear me (they hear intermittent words). This has been happening for last month and is on all calls whether incoming or outgoing. When I leave home there’s no problem. Driving me crazy as I can’t make or receive calls when at home.

Any advice / help greatly appreciated!

Hi did you find a solution? I’m in the exact same situation.

Apple 13. EE 5G contract.

The onscreen bars are only a rough guide, calls can be held on 1 bar (I often do) so "only 2 bars" won't be causing loss of in-call audio.

I suspect your issue is the interworking between WiFi & 4G. If you enable flight mode and then manually enable WiFi, do you have the same problem?

With the mobile service disabled, you are forcing zero mobile coverage which triggers WiFi-calling for all calls & text messages.

Some recent Android phones have an option to toggle WiFi-prefered or mobile-preferred for voice calls, this can be useful in fringe radio condition or for troubleshooting - I don't believe iOS has this option.

It may be worth experimenting with the network modes on your phone, being a 5G device does introduce extra variables if you're on the edge of either 4G or 5G coverage.
