in my postcode area (TF9) the signal is always bad.... indoors anywhere in my town you struggle to get any signal at all. in my home i very rarely can take a call unless i use whatsapp or messenger. most times my phone will ping when i go upstairs to tell me i have a missed call. . the EE mast is less than half a mile away on top of a former water tower..... i can see this from my back garden . EE tells me there is a second mast somewhere in the area , but they won't tell you where..

EE coverage checker says "you can expect good coverage indoors and outdoors" in my area...... i think not!

i have been disatisfied with the signal/service for years, but speaking to users of other services i dont think they are any better.. i think its just a case of there isnt a lot of money to be made from small towns, so they arent going to spend the money to improve the service.

Welcome to the community.

Are you able to check the postcode where you are having the problem on our coverage checker?

If you select the 'check status' button, it will let you know if we're aware of any problems in the area.

If anything the opposite is true.

You might be interested to read up on the SRN & ESN projects - Shared Rural Network & Emergency Services Network . The former is cross-industry, the latter is EE-specific, but both specifically target coverage improvements in rural & remote areas.

In Scotland, the Scottish 4G-Infill project is EE-dominated.

the coverage checker says "you should have good coverage indoors and out" but its wrong.... indoors i constantly get "emergency calls only" and outdoors (less than 500 yards from the nearest tower) i get one bar... coverage is NOTHING like EE claim.

so when work colleagues and customers try to ring my phone and it goes straight to answer phone? and i then don't get an update to tell me that until i leave the house? same at work.. again less than 500 yards from the same tower!! my point is... i pay for a mobile PHONE service.... one would expect (when EE claim to have the UKs best network) to be able to receive phone calls when within 500 yards of a tower!

it IS EE equipment.... there are two EE towers in my town ... i am told on a regular basis via text.. " there is a problem with the service near home" over the last 12 months this has happened 15 times!!! as i type this , my phone has zero bars and "emergency calls only " message... but EE assure me "there should be no issue with your connection... to be honest, i'm sick to death of it..... i'm out of contract this month and i'm going to get an O2 sim only deal... £10 a month cheaper than my current deal and twice as much data..

Do you know any friends or relatives who use EE - do they have the same problems in the same location? If they do, that's good evidence of a network issue, but if not there may be a fault with your phone.

Apps such as WhatsApp & Messenger are just that - apps. WiFi-calling enables you to make & receive calls using your phone's native dialler, and send & receive text messages - all as normal without any need for mobile coverage.

WhatsApp & Messenger only allow you to communicate with other app users, but calls & texts made or received via WiFi-calling are sent & dialled entirely as normal, and will seamlessly swap between WiFi & 4G-voice carriers.
