EE 3 and 4g mobile coverage is very weak and sometimes non-existant. How do I get EE to improve it?

EE's 3G coverage will soon be non-existent nationally, as it's being switched off!!

As for improving coverage in general, the answer is to build more sites - but this is neither quick nor cheap, and involves council planning departments for one.

WiFi-calling is a recommended solution for plugging those indoor coverage problems.
