Hi Bristolian,

I'm on a 5G contract which was offeres, same as my partner, we would love to see 5G eventually in our home town 🙂

I was told on the phone a few weeks ago, the masts were being updated to 5G should have it by end of year, but at the moment it's very spotty, and when directly under a mast its only giving around 25mb speed on 5G.

Although using an iPhone, I've just realised it may say 5G, but in fact it's only giving me 4G speeds, but the icon hasn't changed? maybe

Am I right in saying when you do a Network Coverage, and you see the below it's wrong (5G in yellow)?
If it's correct, then I may just buy myself a small boat just to access the 5G 😉

I live in Arbroath (Scotland) and on the odd occasion check to see if 5G is available in my area yet, in some locations in the town you can actually access 5G, so they must be updating the Antennas.

Anyone else think the below is wrong, it looks like the masts are pointing the wrong direction 😞

There's ongoing rollout of 4G capacity additions alongside 5G tech adds currently - is there anything you want to do with your phone that specifically needs 5G, and for which 4G is not suitable?

Antenna orientation on individual sites is part of network planning, but in NE Scotland there's a requirement to provide offshore coverage to the fishing industry. There are less obstructions to radio signals at sea, so a site near the coast inevitably provides substantial offshore coverage.
