Some what uncertain why this is happening on the 5G Coverage Checker Map, its become more common since a Map Update a few weeks back, depending on the type of Phone selected and Area will determine whether you can expect 5G Coverage or not, at first I thought it may be a case of EE's new 5G n28 Band being Rolled out in conjunction with the older 5G n78 Band, but that doesn't seem to be the case, this situation appears in various Areas of the Map and with various 5G Phones, here's an example -

Post Code - RM4 1TA, note the Maps 5G Signal Indicator is the same for both phone (4 Bars)

Phone 1 is Pixel 5 5G, You won't get 5G coverage on your Google Pixel 5 5G.

Phone 2 is Pixel 6 5G, You'll get great coverage outdoors and good coverage indoors on your Google Pixel 6

Both Phone are simular Specs in terms of 5G Bands, both have n28 and n77 & n78, in fact the only real difference is the Pixel 5 does not have Band n7 (a possible EE 4G Re Farmed Band) however EE do not operate any Re Farmed n7 in the Area.

Map Pic - Pixel 5 5G

Map Pic - Pixel 6 5G

Both devices use the same/similar software, so it's on the coverage checker team's radar to try and figure out why it's different and make sure the information shows correctly.

Sorry, I posted a reply regarding this on a different thread by mistake.

Here's a couple more, 5G Routers this time, in my second post I mentioned the two pixels were different in term of the Maps Indoor and Outdoor (Light and Dark Yellow), as the Pixel 5 that had no 5G also didnt show any indoor Coverage on the Map. well the next Pics on the Routers clearly show both Routers have Indoor and Outdoor on the Map, despite the Checker will saying, one will get 5G and other wont, so just to add a bit more strangeness (you can compare with the Pixel 5 Map).

Same Post Code RM4 1TA, this time -

5GEE WiFi Router - You won't get 5G coverage on your EE 5GEE WiFi 2020.

EE 5GEE Router (2021) - You'll get great coverage outdoors and good coverage indoors on your EE 5GEE Router (2021).

5GEE WiFi Router

EE 5GEE Router (2021)

Hi @Leanne_TT in a word, kind of, the 5G Maps VS the Your Mobile Device VS the You will, or You won't get 5G Coverage seems to be all over the place.

There seems to be at least 2 Versions of the 5G Yellow Overlay on the Maps, which are dependent on the information given, but unless its accurate there's not much point, in fact if anything its just more confusing to the Customer, which is important when you consider where we are now with existing 4G and the ongoing 5G Roll Out, it's also important when a lot of the Helpful Advice given on here is, Check the Coverage Checker.

I think Ive kind of worked out where EE are trying to go here with this 5G Multi-Tier Mapping but until EE respond back, I will reserve judgement for now.

Thanks for coming back to me.

Are you getting the same result you originally posted on the coverage checker?

Could you add some screenshots of what is happening now? I will feed this back 🙂
