The very poor coverage here seems to have got even worse. It was never good enough for voice, but now I can't even get one time passcodes from my bank. This is not good enough in 2022!!!!!!!

Is this purely an indoor problem, or is outdoor coverage also affected?

If this is indoors-only, then WiFi-calling is a good solution. With the best of intentions, coverage holes are an inevitability from time-to-time.
