I have 4GEE Home Router. It works fine where I currently live, but says it won't work at my new address when I check on the coverage checker, despite there being excellent 4G coverage there.

Is there a technical reason that it won't work or is this an error?

There are possibly three reasons why the Coverage Checker is telling you this,

1, your trying to check (ie have selected) 5G coverage Map instead of a 4G.

2, bit of a techy one this, Your 4gee Router doesn't not support Band 20 (Most early EE Routers only support Bands 1,3,7) and you are trying to Check Coverage in a 800mhz (Band 20) Extended Coverage Area, but this is probably not the reason.

3, Its a possible glitch on the EE's Coverage Checker, I had this before quiet a few times, on some Post Codes, quiet a few in fact, if you select a Post Code in a know good 4G Coverage Area (ie 5 Bars good indoor and outdoor Coverage according to the Checker) then Select any of the 4GEE XXXX Routers or MiFi's, it will report back as You won't get 4G coverage on yourEE 4GEE XXXX but if you then swap the 4G Map to 3G its will report back You'll get great coverage outdoors and good coverage indoors on yourEE 4GEE XXXX.

I have reported the last issue a few times now but it still exists, my advice is as long as its showing as Good indoor and Outdoor on the Map on 4G then you should be fine.

Thank you that's great. Seems my new address is odd all ends up - EE also say I can get up to 900MB full fibre... whereas the OFCOM checker says I can only get 17MB basic.

Super helpful though. Thanks

@EssexBoyEE wrote:

2, bit of a techy one this, Your 4gee Router doesn't not support Band 20 (Most early EE Routers only support Bands 1,3,7) and you are trying to Check Coverage in a 800mhz (Band 20) Extended Coverage Area, but this is probably not the reason

Checking using a phone older than the preceeding 3 or so years (try a Samsung Galaxy A3 2016 variant off-hand) and Band-20 coverage tends to be indicated by a reference to "4G-calling devices" in the search results.

Rural & deep-indoor locations are where this would usually be an issue.

There are other ways of being sure, but they would involve knowing your specific location.

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your new addy?
