Hi @Footnote

Yes the device will work with your SIM, you just won't get the 5G service.

I would recommend you get a 5G device as the service is inevitably going to get activated on PAYG in the future or if you change to another carrier who offers 5G on PAYG.

Alternatively you might consider a 5G SIM only plan.

Lastly 5G is only any use if you're in a 5G area. The service is still getting rolled out across the UK.

Thanks

Hi,

My android phone smartphone just died and I went into the EE shop to buy a new handset but they couldn't sell me one due to me being PAYG. They said I had to be contract to buy a phone capable of using 5G.

If I buy a 5G capable handset elsewhere to put my sim into, would it work? Does PAYG mean you can't have a 5G phone?

I'm sorry, I'm not tech savvy , only ever had a cheap android and haven't got a clue about these things. I don't want to buy a spurious brand as the one I just had went into liquidation 2 weeks ago and I'd only had the phone 2 months before a suspected virus killed it.

Please could someone help me as I currently have no phone and really need to buy one urgently ?

Thanks

Footnote

5G isn't available on EE PAYG.

Should EE change their stance in the future then you will be ready with a 5G handset.
