      <title>Huawei CPE Pro will not connect to 5G</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;As EE seem to no longer be able to supply these 5g routers I have bought one that is unlocked for use on any network. I have a Pay Monthly 1TB 5G EE plan. I've tried the SIM in my iPhone 12 and it immediatley connects to 5G and I get really fast 5G upload and download speeds.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;But when I put this SIM into my Huawei router I only get 4G. The 5G light on the front of the router is on (solid green) so I know its found a 5G signal and when I log into the router it shows me that it has detected a strong 5G signal, but when I go to&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Network Settings&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Mobile Network Searching&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Network Search mode (and set this to manual)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It only lists 4G Networks, there is no mention of the EE 5G Network that I know is available.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Have EE blocked 5G wifi routers that were not purchased from themselves?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Appreciate any help&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;It's a UK model and fully compatible across all UK 5G frequencies, hence the green light on it showing that it has detected the EE 5G signal and the 5G signal status showing 5 bars on the login page.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Matt&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Update...&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The original unlocked CPE Pro router gave me 5G speeds of 150Mb download for about 30 minutes after switching it on, then it dropped down to around 40Mb and never improved in over a weeks use.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So I returned this original router and bought another CPE Pro, this one is locked to EE, again for the first 30 minutes after switching it on I got up to 180Mb download, then after about 30 minutes or so this has again dropped to 40Mb and will not improve.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;4G and 5G signals are both over 70%. Why would I see such impressive speed on all my devices on either router but for just 30 minutes and then get such a dramatic drop? And never get these speeds again? Rebooting makes no difference&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Matt&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;First off the basic things to check.also which Model is it, it will be on the Bottom of the Unit.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;* Where is the Router placed, try placing by the Window, keeping away from the Window edges and frame, try and get the Router high, even if it means placing it upstairs window.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;* Is the Software up to date ?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;* Are you logged onto 2.4 or 5ghz WiFi Channel access on the Router, try testing on both and post the results.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;* Check the EE Map for 5G Coverage in your Home Area, paying attention to what the Signal Bars are telling you on the Map, do the same on by switching the Map to 4G.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;* Do some Speed Tests on 5G, then switch off 5G in Settings and repeat the Test on 4G only, how do they compare.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;*&amp;nbsp; Post up the Signal Readings on the Router,&amp;nbsp; ( Advanced / System) to include RSRQ, RSRP, RSSI and SINR for both 4G and 5G.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Is there anyway you can plug a Laptop or PC into the Router directly using Cable, do a Speedtest and compare with WiFi.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;First off thanks for being willing to help&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It's the H112-372 CPE Pro, it's a UK model locked to EE.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;It's connected to an external antenna that was fitted by EE engineers to ensure it was in the best location.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Software is up to date&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The Mac that I'm running the speedtest from is hardwired to the router.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;On the router the 4g and 5G signals show all bars lit, an 'optimize location test' shows 4G at 70% and 5G at 65%, this is pretty much what I've always seen even when I got those early much higher speeds.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;There are no options to be able to switch between 4G and 5G, on the EE locked versions of these routers it just connects you to a mobile network and doesn't even tell you what you're connected to.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;RSRQ&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-8.0dB&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;RSRP&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-95dBm&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;RSSI&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-65dBm&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;SINR&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-1dB&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Does this help?&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Thanks, Matt&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Generally the signal and performance with the EE locked CPE Pro is better than the 4G router that I had previously but, performance fluctuates massively, sometimes a speedtest comes back at 40MB down and 20MB Up and other times its well over 100MB down and 20MB Up.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Overall I think the router offers a more stable connection than my 4G one and generally performance seems a little better, with ocassional spikes where it's excellent, but even though I've got over 70% 5G signal strength most of the time I see very little benefit using it right now, maybe this will change as coverage improves.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The router is connecting to 5G, my expectations were that it would be significantly better than 4G which right now just isn't the case in my area.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What does the coverage checker predict for your location?&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;Just by means of an instinctive reply, I'm wondering if you're actually connected to a 4G-site but the software is indicating a 5G-server is closeby or dual-connected.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;In the router I can see this "&lt;SPAN&gt;CELL_ID &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;3425792" not sure how and if I can track what that actually is though. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;The coverage checker on EE's site shows a good outside signal and as such I have an external antenna connected which is why I think I see a pretty good, 70% 5G signal. This is actually stronger than the 4G signal I'm getting.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;a href="https://community.ee.co.uk/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/43656"&gt;@bristolian&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;Huawei are pretty good at given Diagnostic Info on there equipment, so there's a fair bit of info you can get from there Routers, problem is when the Networks Lock them down they restrict a lot of the valuable information and what you can do on the Devices.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The EE Firmware restricts a fair bit compared to the Unlocked Versions, but it's is only Software Restricted so&amp;nbsp; could still be available, I've got some API Request commands somewhere on my Lappy let me see what I can find and post up.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;That looks like an individual sector/cell-ID rather than site specific, but all the same.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;It would be unlikely for you to have stronger 5G than 4G, for various reasons. Hence I suspect your router is connected to multiple sites, and only one is 5G-enabled.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Here try this simple API on Huawei 5G CPE Routers.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;A href="http://192.168.8.1/api/device/signal" target="_blank"&gt;http://192.168.8.1/api/device/signal&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You need to be Logged In to the Router first using the standard 192.168.8.1 or whatever the Network Firmware gives you, then using the same Browser type in and send the above link, it should return String of info back on your Browser, I post up detail to the String Info.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Note, the above Link doesn't Handshake to the Router to it will probably time out after a short while as you've effective left the Firmware Home Page, if do just Log back in and retry. Refresh should also work but again maybe limited after a min or two after time out.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;If I've interpreted the data in your last post correctly, that device is attached to a 4G-site near M5 J21 - a previous post in this thread referenced a cell-ID that correlates to ndividual sectors of the site I've identified, so this seems to be accurate.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;There is no 5G currently available in this area, and the website coverage map reports it as unavailable.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Unless I've misinterpreted the gist of this thread, then I would conclude that your device is correctly using the 4G network where 5G is unavailable.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Strange, if I put my postcode in on the EE coverage checker site then it says that I'll get a good 5G signal outdoors where I live. The router also has the 5G light on and when I do an 'optimize location' check on the router it rates my 5G signal at 85 / 100 and 4G lower at around 70 / 100&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;5G coverage around the area of Puxton Park &amp;amp; M5 J21 is variable, and not as blanket as 4G is (every network site in that area is 4G-enabled, not all are 5G), so I suspect we may be looking at different specific areas.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Do you have a 5G/4G-enabled mobile with EE, to compare coverage with? The signal received by each device would be the same.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;this is interesting.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;i live in Worle of junction 21 M5.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;i have been using 5G with EE now for several month. i use the CPE Pro 2. with external antennas (i modify them as a side line business) my 5G antenna is pointed towards queesnway and my 4G is towards worlbury.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;all as been working prefect but suddenly i cant get 5G anymore. one day it lost connection and never reconnected, its been 2 weeks now.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;my router reports 90% signal 5G and 100% 4G but its not connecting to 5G anymore.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;initially i assumed EE were undergoing some maintenance but after a week i contacted EE via live chat they said they have an issue in the area and would keep me posted. next day i get an email saying there isn't an issue in the area. so i go back on chat with Shubham who wants me to preform "novice troubleshooting" tasks to resolve my issue.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;as i said before i modify Huawei router for use with external antennas, i know what I'm doing when it comes to this stuff. either EE or Huawei have done something that's stopping 5G from working&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;in regards to your 5G mast, its in the layby opposite puxton park.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;feel free to message me&lt;/P&gt;</description>
