no signal, emergency calls only on Nokia 105

Just bought my child a little nokia 105 for school. it has been working fine for a week but all day today there are no network bars, I cant call her, she cant call me and she cant send or receive text messages. Ive had a look through settings - not much on that little phone, tried setting to factory default. tried powering off and on, several times. Tried removing and reseating sim card and battery. Any ideas? Should we be able to use these little old phones on the EE network?

Can you check the service checker for your area - does anything show?

That site includes an option to report suspected problems that aren't showing, and get updates on known faults that do.

Thanks for your reply. Yes. I checked the network yesterday, it said it was fine and I reported a problem. Ive just done this again this morning and it all looks fine.
