PAYG phone for emergencies only

hi. My other half has an Android with a Vodafone PAYG sim only but every time she use the phone it is a £1 (PAYG 1 package)

She only uses the phone for emergency calls when if she needs to call me while shopping so its a major waste. It used to be that £10 would last her about 9+ months and now, as its a £1 a time use, its about 9 weeks or less. Looking at alternatives and VF doesn't have anything better, but EE doesn't seem to either. Is that right?

I'm a long time EE user and happy with the network and service i get.

Thanks for coming to the community.

EE Pay as you go SIM cards come primed with a pack, if you don't want to use a pack, you can text STOP PACK to 150 before you top up and you can then pay to send texts and make calls and top up when needed.

If you would like to use data you would need to purchase a data add-on, you can do this by visiting add-on.ee.co.uk.

Please see our What is pay as you go and flex hibernation, and how do I stop it? article, to ensure you don’t lose the number if the SIM card is not used for awhile.

@scoobox : EE PAYG can be made to.

All EE PAYG SIMs come primed with a recurring Pack of allowances ready to bought out of your PAYG credit as soon as it is sufficient.

Text STOP PACK to 150 before you 1st top-up & you can use the SIM for calls & texts but not data as normal PAYG at standard per-unit rates paid for out of your standing PAYG credit balance.

To save the SIM going into hibernation due to lack of use, just remember within every 179 days (~ 6 months) to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from any Pack or Add-on you might have.
