Hi I have the same issue. Could you tell me how long will the sim card keep receiving texts only whilst abroad? I have bought credit but I'm unable to go back to the UK to activate it because of the Pandemic. But even receiving texts only is useful to me.

Approximately every 6 months, I get a message that the credit has been zero'd, then I call EE and they sort it out again, including adding the credit they just took off. They can't do anything to stop the expiring. Until you take the sim back to the UK and put it in a phone to register on the UK network, this will keep happening
