All new EE PAYG SIMs need to be first activated on EE's UK network before they will work abroad, this includes migrations from pay-monthly.

I cancelled my pay monthly contract due to moving abroad but wanted to switch to pay as you go (or whatever it's now called), keeping the same number. The customer services guy said this would not be a problem even after I explained my situation and that I would not be able to receive a new sim. He said that the current sim would be switched over. The 30 days are now up, I am in Thailand and my account has been closed. Is there anything I can do or was the guy on the phone just a typical EE liar?

Hi @Cheekymahony

It's likely a PAYG SIM was sent to your home address. Your PAYG number (even if you had a contract before) needs activating in the UK network.

Thanks
