@Wadder If the device already has a discount on it you’ll not be able to use the F&F discount, you can only have one discount at a time.

Has your friend tried to order the plan and phone with the trade-in selected?

The discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other monthly recurring discounts.

He hasn't yet was trying to get the answer first, the discount for trade in promo is just off the upfront cost at an enhanced amount

I can't see any issues with using a F&F discount code with a trade in offer. If the two weren't compatible, you'd be alerted at the checkout.
