BG games taking money through EE bill

BG games are taking money from my EE bill. The email I sent to the customer service email address in my EE account area bounced back.

Any ideas how I cancel these payments I’ve never agreed to?

Hi @HMCR ,

If these unauthorized debits were taken by Direct Debit, I would recommend you additionally speak to your bank about them. https://www.directdebit.co.uk/DirectDebitExplained/Pages/Incorrectpayments.aspx

It's probably a good idea to seek advice from EE either using an online chat or calling them. Good luck!

@HMCR Then call customer service on 150 from your EE device.

EE are not responsible for you signing up to a 3rd party service and your EE bill is the payment method so you’ll not get any joy with what @mikeliuk has put as you agreed to pay your EE bill via DD.

EE expects you to give these scammers your bank details so that they can refund you.

Which is ridiculous.

Your phone contract is between you and EE, if you haven't specifically asked EE to give your money to a third party they had absolutely no right to do so.

These scammers only succeed because phone companies make it your problem.

Insist that EE refund you and let EE chase the scammers that they are facilitating.

Then put a Spending Block on all of your EE devices.

@TT485 EE don't have their money so EE will not refund them, no matter how much you ask..

People don't just get signed up, you have to have clicked on a few links/buttons to be signed up.

You have to chase the company that has charged you as that is what you sign up to and are in a contract with. Just because our network is EE doesn't mean it's an EE contract with you for these charges.

That like saying you buying a car and paying by your HSBC Visa Debit Card and then the car having a warranty issue breakdown. You don't go to HSBC because you used their debit card do you

If your bank gives your money to a fraudster you get refunded.

EE know who these scammers are because they have accounts that they pay them through.

EE takes the money from your bank account, then pays the scammers.

Scammers use hidden links so don't pretend that the customer is even aware that they have signed up to any scams.

EE has a responsibility to protect its customers from fraudulent claims.

EE can follow the money.

Do you seriously advise customers to give these thieves their bank details to get a refund?

EE refunded me when I was scammed, probably because I said that I would report the theft of my money to the police, fraud is a crime.

Seek legal advice, EE shouldn't be on the side of the fraudsters.

BG Games is a not a scam, its a service for games you play on your device. So the OP would be playing a game that has then clicked on an ad or some sort of in game purchase.

No theft has happened

Also banks don't always pay you back if fraudsters have taken money from your bank. They are not obliged to on certain scenarios. Like if you literally transferred the money yourself. Because they managed to hack a friends facebook profile and asked you to send money to them. This has happened to people before and banks didn't refund them as they physically made the transfer. The only way banks would refund is if they can claw back the money from the account you sent it to. But these scammers withdraw the money within seconds so the banks can't do this.

The OP needs to go to BG games. It isn't a scam people need to realise not everything is ascam and just because 1 person says it it doesn't mean it is. Just be more careful on what you are clicking on.

Please stop aiding and abetting thieves, it's not a good look.

EE can recoup any losses that they have facilitated.

EE took the money out of the bank account, it is down to them to justify why they gave your money to fraudsters and took a commission for doing so.

The law is the law and no amount of wishful thinking changes that.

It's shameful that phone companies know who the scammers are yet continue to facilitate their fraud and letting their customers lose money.

If you manage to get through to the scammers (not necessarily the company that is named) they will ask for your name, address, contact details and bank details.

Which then they sell to other fraudsters.

You really need to understand the law.

EE hasn't facilitated anything.

You click on links that say you will be charged via EE etc etc is YOU giving permission to EE to charge you. This is how it works. EE are not facilitating this they are doing as instructed by YOU!

You keep calling BG Games scammers but yet you don't seem to recognise they are actually a company.

If you think they are scammers then so are EE Vodafone O2 Ford Kia etc etc they are all companies charging your bank accounts for services you agree to.

@TT485 EE can refund you as a token of good will but they don’t have too and have no obligation to refund you as it’s not their subscription and they don’t pay your bills.

EE isn’t responsible for any extra payments that are added to your bill especially 3rd party subscription services.

EE are breaking no law by not refunding you.

And EE didn’t give the customer information to anyone. You have no idea what website anyone goes too and EE isn’t responsible for user actions. And you clearly stated this yourself

Please stop giving advice that you are only guessing about, you really don't know what you're talking about.

You do NOT need to fully sign up to a subscription, sometimes they are hidden behind false links.

I'm done with arguing with you because it is pointless as you have proved time and again that you don't know the law, or the scams.

Also your wild claims of what I believe are ludicrous.

The law is the law, please spend your time constructively learning it, not just speculating.

@TT485 You dealing with an issue doens't make you a law expert.

Having a Wife who has a masters in law who worked at one of the top chambers in the magic circle in London kind of gives me a small advantage as I was with her the whole time she was at Uni going through her 2 law degrees so I was helping her with her revision etc.

Having a Mother in law who has a PhD in law who works in the law industry doing court hearings etc for tax issues kind of helps my case here as well.

But that doesn't really matter. The law hasn't been broken. EE doesn't have to refund anyone. They may have refunded you out of good will but that doesn't mean they admitted they broke the law.

BG Games is a company it isn't a scam artist in his basement.

They are not hidden behind any links they are well stated before you click that link often below the very button you press. It would state by clicking you agree to.....

Please educate yourself on the law, not on what you might like it to be.

EE have removed money from the customers bank account to give to a third party that the customer says they have not signed up to.

That is facilitating a fraud and cannot be dismissed as the customers problem.

Would you give your bank details to someone who has already tried scamming you?

Obviously not.

EE know who they paid your money to, it is for them to challenge their customer that they gave the money to.

I'm done with this thread now as I can see that my facts will be unpopular with EE and will be challenged by those who want to impress EE rather than actually know the law.

Opinions are only valid from those who have had to deal with this issue before, which I'm guessing you haven't or you would know better.

Customers can say they never signed up to anything. Doesn't mean they didn't.

The law is the law as you keep spouting out. But you actually ignore the law because you think it's only law if it sides with you. It doesn't, the law is very complex.

But as again no one has been scammed you seem to ignore this part.

BG Games is a company that provides a service. The OP would have clicked linked and agreed to this. EE just did as instructed by the OP and charged it via the EE account.

No.

Have I had this experience? Yes.

Am I the one with the facts because I had to fight it and had to speak to Regulators to know how to deal with it? Yes

Have you? No.

Please educate yourself before attacking and accusing others and embarrassing yourself.

Please don't pester me with more assumptions and guesswork, it's pointless.
