Welcome to the EE community

Whilst the advice from the previous poster is correct in strictly legal terms, I strongly recommend a read of this EE help article

Whatever you do, please call EE C/S ASAP and discuss your circumstances with an agent.

The sooner you advice EE of your specific circumstances, the sooner arrangements may be able to be put in place for you.

Hi I can’t afford my plan. It’s £60 a months and I’ve had it since March but I’m out of foster care now and in my own place. It’s making it very difficult to pay for everything because phone is so expensive. Is there any way I can cancel plan but keep phone

Hi @Loislundy10 ,

In addition to the above excellent advice, you may wish to read the further information at the below links. There are contact details to get further help and advice from those parties.

I suspect there are two key points that you should look for in your contract and the terms and conditions, you can request a copy of from EE if you have lost them.

You need to know at what point the phone becomes yours (e.g. after six months or after the full minimum term depending on what the contract says), and the second point is how much of the minimum term remains and what the Early Termination Charge would be if you cancel immediately after the phone is yours.

I recommend that you check in the contract when the phone will be yours and request the service provider points out the clause in the contract instead of taking the adviser's claim at face value as they may be confusing the many contracts which they have active at any one time.

By asking the service provider for help, they may be able to offer you adjustments to make things more affordable. It's likely a considerable part of that cost is to pay for the device so you may need to consider giving up the device to avoid a hefty one-off payment. Hope things get resolved in a way which helps you out.

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/phone-internet-downloads-or-tv/if-youre-struggling-to-pay-your-mobile-phone-internet-or-tv-bill/

https://www.stepchange.org/debt-info/mobile-phone-debt.aspx

https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/billing-usage-and-top-up/paying-my-bill/what-should-i-do-if-i-cant-pay-my-bill

https://ee.co.uk/content/dam/everything-everywhere/documents/managing-debt.pdf
