Wrong handset showing in my account resulting in picture messages charges

I upgraded my handset and the old one is still showing on my account

For some reason I'm now being charged for picture messages which are actually emojis. This resulted in addition charge fo over £6 this month.when I looked into in to this it states it's due to hand set being incorrect.

Welcome to the EE community

You have 2 separate issues here. Firstly, the model of phone shown in your myEE app/website is purely cosmetic and should update in a couple of days after starting using a new device.

This will not be impacting your messaging charges which are purely a device function. There is some background info on this issue on this EE help page but Android devices at least, do give you an on-screen notification of "message converting to MMS" before you click "send", allowing you the choice of deleting the offending characters or sending at cost.

I dare say iOS has something similar.

I've had no warning messages to say sending as MMS.and I've had the handset 6 weeks and spoke to we already who told me to restart phone and they'd updated this was a weeks ago

Hi @epsonc46

These charges have never changed for sending MMS/emojis for over 20+ years. This is nothing new. The only time you're not charged is if you use a data service to sent these (WhatsApp, iMessage to other iPhone users)

Sending an emoji is a picture message. It is self explanatory. For longer messages you will notice a counter on your text message pop up when you near the maximum text limit.
