Sim pin unlock iPhone

Hi, I’ve accidentally locked my sim on my iPhone 12. Is there a guide as to how to unlock please? I have googled the default PIN number and it shows as 1111 but when I enter this I am prompted to enter a new pin, which I do, twice with the same 4 digit number, but I end up not being able to unlock. Help please!
