A blocked SIM ?

This all started when my children tried to guess the access PIN to my phone. Ofcourse they couldn't but a message appeared which said that I could not access my phone now without the PUK code. I did not have PUK code to hand so I took the battery out and the SIM card and then put them back to see what would happen. The phone no longer had an access barrier when I turned it on again but my texts all failed and my calls failed too with the message 'not registered on the network'.

When I spoke to EE I was told I would need a new SIM card which would need to be activated in the UK by texting or calling someone from the UK.

So as I am in Poland I arranged it to be sent to a friend before he sends it on to me as I am stuck in Poland right now due to the Pandemic - this friend has said the screen shows EE but he is unable to make a call or text.

Two questions then - do I really need a new SIM card or can the old one be reactivated ? If I do need a new SIM card can it not be activated by EE and sent to me in Poland ? Any advice on this situation welcome ....... it is dragging out and all I want to do is keep my old UK number and use my phone.

@tdr25 EE will not activate a sim for you and as EE is a UK company they will only post to uk address.

You could of got your PUK code from your online EE account.

The Sim card that your friend activated is their credit on your account to be able to make a call ? Can they phone your number to see if it rings in their phone ? If it does it just needs to be posted to you.

On phoning the number it said 'it has not been possible to connect you".
My friend cannot find an unlocked phone which takes a 4G SIM - it is fine that EE sent it on to a UK address but the activating the SIM in the UK part is the problem, if I asked EE to activate the SIM surely they could ?
I did not have my PUK on my EE online - I think that is because I am pay as you go - obviously I wish I had phoned for my PUK now though.

Hello @tdr25.

The SIM can't manually be activated.

This must be used in the UK on the EE network before travelling abroad.

so my friend finally located an unlocked pay as you go iphone but no luck in activating the SIM. What now ?!

Do you have any credit on your account? If not, you'll need to top up to make a call.

He told me this: You can’t call from it because it says no service where it would normally say EE or O2 or whatever, and when you actually try and call, it say not registered on the network – same for the iphone as for other phones. The “It has not been possible “ message is when you try and call the iphone (or other phones)

Hi @tdr25,

Is the iPhone definitely unlocked? If it is, I'd recommend getting in touch with Customer Care so they can check the status of your account.
