T-Mobile PAYG - Faulty Sim - New Sim

I'm trying to help out my mother-in-law who has had a PAYG T-Mobile SIM card for years. Hardly uses it but it has a healthy credit balance on it. We recently got her a new phone (a Nokia 105) and when we tried the sim in that phone it wouldn't recognise it when we swapped to her older one that didn't recognise it either. I think that card has become corrupted in some way.

So now we need a new Sim: From what I understand we'll need to get an EE sim now (fine). I want to get this done but speaking to someone at EE Support they tell me I need to go to T-Mobile, but since EE run or are T-Mobile in the UK I don't know where or who to turn to. The number I was given ( 0800 9566000) is an EE customer service line.

I would like to do this through a web chat but this isn't an option for PAYG customers....

This is maddening and confusing an 82 year old....
