Why have I been sent a new sim card

Upgraded my phone from an iPhone XR to an 11 and the new phone has come with a new sim! Can I not just use my old sim?

Seems strange with have been sent a new one...

Welcome to the EE Community,

your new IPhone 11 is compatible with your current sim so you can continue to use your current sim.

I would keep your new sim as a spare just incase your current one becomes faulty.
