      <title>Porting number within EE to a new contract</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi All,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm looking at taking out a new EE contract, but not through EE as it's way too expensive (£60 a month if I "upgrade" to a new phone, £47 for the same phone but with more data as a new contract via a reseller)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Am I right in thinking I can switch my current phone to a PAYG "contract", take out the new contract and add it to my existing EE account as an extra phone, then transfer my number from the PAYG to the new contract? I'm just looking for the easiest way to port my number to the new contract, as I know EE don't (or at least didn't used to) let you port direct from one contract to another directly...&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If possible, I'd rather not go through the hassle of porting to a different network as a middle-step as it'll take up to two months that way! (several articles I've read give 30-day notice terms?)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Firstly PAYG, by definition, isn't a contract - that's the whole purpose of PAYG &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":slightly_smiling_face:"&gt;🙂&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You're right to think that porting your number out and then porting back in, is the only way to perform an upgrade without actually doing one. You may be able to do this by using EE PAYG, otherwise use another network's PAYG which shouldn't have notice periods that would otherwise apply.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You might find that by calling EE C/S, they may be able to offer you an account-specific promotion that could make an upgrade close enough in price to save the hassle. There's certainly no guarantee, but equally if you don't ask you won't get.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

I know PAYG isn't technically a contract, hence I put it in "" &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":winking_face:"&gt;😉&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'd rather not go through the hassle of leaving EE only to rejoin - I'd like to keep my account history if possible. But if it's the only way, it's the only way I guess &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":disappointed_face:"&gt;😞&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I did contact CS, but the closest they could get was still £8 a month more (£55 as opposed to £47), but with about £100 cost on the phone (S20+) on top - The deal I'm looking at there's no phone cost, so it's quite a bit cheaper (they didn't seem to quite comprehend that as I have two phones on the contract, any "small" difference is doubled!)&lt;/P&gt;</description>
